TGIF

Ever really give any conscious thought as to why we love Fridays so much? Is it:

a) because we're lazy bums that have such disdain for work or school, we just can't wait to get away from the drudgery of those two industrious enterprises?

b) we get to, by-and-large, do household or outdoors chores rather than work-related ones, and household and outdoor chores are so much more fun?

c) because church or mass is on Sunday (or Saturday for some), and only two more days (or one) until you get there?

d) because Fridays start with the letter F, and all that that entails?

e) because most of our escapism occurs on weekends, if we don't count the ongoing daydreams during the week?

f) because our kids don't wake us up early on weekends? (Riii-iiiight.)

g) because you have dinner with your relatives or in-laws each Friday?

h) because everyone else likes it, I should, too?

I don't know. Similar to most everyone else, I like Fridays. I don't have a real good reason or any reason except bits and pieces of a) and e) above, and then there's also a minor twinge of that little feeling you get (or maybe I'm alone in this) when you walk out of work right before holidays or when you have time off for a vacation. A little lightness of being. I usually get that feeling when I leave work Friday unless I have to work over the weekend.

What about you? Like Fridays? Why? Tell me the glass half-full mind set all you optimists out there while I'm busy being Eeyore.

Anyway, as I was saying, Thank God It's Friday.

Well I work on weekends a lot because you dudes think that you need to fix stuff around the house. BTW plumbing is at least three trips. Today was my Friday and Sunday will be my Sunday but I don't have a Saturday. Oh Noooo I've lost dayz!!!!!!

Or I'm in one.

I think it is conditioning from our childhood. We yearned for school to be over. Over years and years of looking forward to the weekend, when we got out into the 'real' world.

It is the same thing with summers. Don't you look forward to summers too?

God Bless

Two words: Casual Friday! Break out the blue jeans & tennis shoes. It's quite possible that I'm the only person that get's excited about that...but that ausually puts me in a better mood each Friday

Ah, jeans and tennis shoes are an everyday affair for me. I look forward to actually dressing up. And if that means a date with dear hubby, even better!

I'm totally with Jonathan on casual Friday. I used to work at a bank, and I cannot tell you -- although you guys can probably tell me as you're the ones reading mess I write -- how many brain cells were lost from loss of oxygen from being choked by a tie. Horrible, just horrible.

If I wear a suit now, I'm at an interview (maybe) or a funeral, and both are pretty much the same for me.

But I get what you're saying, Wanda. If I never dressed up, maybe... no, I take it back. I don't get it at all. :)

But see, I'm coming from a female point of view. Even my rough and tumble, cop-wanna-be, karate kicking, ROTC student daughter likes to dress up now and again.

Yeah, I do see.

Some girls like to dress up, like Donna Summer in the Thank God It's Friday picture I hung up (or is that dressing down?).
