What's Going on Around Here?

Every couple of weeks or so, I like to link what's going on in the blogs we know and like, so here goes:

Doug's latest is Missionary Impossible, and I think he's found his blogging stride with his Personal Reflection posts - not that the others aren't good, too. But his refective posts are his best, imo, so see them now. Plus, after being swallowed whole by Jeannie in our last post, who knows if he'll still be able to post while down in the depths of Ms. Eden's tum-tum?

Speaking of tum-tums, codepoke has a scientifc post on fermentation that a certain commenter, I won't mention any names but I like him, took straight into the gutter. However, codepoke's predestination piece is one you need to make some time for, because it's that good.

b's been sick and in bed, but not so sick that she didn't do more way-back-type research in her Baptist History update. She's almost codepoke-like in the way she throws out terms I knew nothing of, such as: Novationists (do they novate contracts?) and Montanists (are they from Montana?). You'll have to read her blog to find out. Not to mention she's been reading Milton's Paradise Lost, most likely while bedridden.

This is sort of against my highlighting other blogs policy, but I'll mention one of ours - Ken's IV post that is a riddle no one can figure out. But in the comments he's sure some denizen of The Realm will. A certain prize beyond measure for anyone who can unwind the mystery -- uh, the prize will be from Ken, of course.

Todd R.'s got at least five new posts since the last time I went "Around the Horn." You can find them at Beauty Out of Ugly Things. Check them out. They're always good. If you don't believe me, ask Doug. Oops. you can't. Barbara Eden turned him into a frog and ate him.

Bill's back posting again at Out of the Bloo. I've mentioned it before that he's one of my favorite people in the whole blog universe and certainly one of the nicest, and his "little" devotional blog is always worth checking out when you have a spare moment.

Then, there's Armando Salguero's Dolphins blog at The Miami Herald. Waitaminnit. That one's just for me. Sorry about that. My mistake.

Another recent commenter, Milly (who I think I first corresponded with over at Thinklings), has some great posts at her blog, The Milly Times. One thing I love is honest bloggers, and writing posts on Life After Death basically opens your thoughts to the world. Obviously, people are going to disagree on a topic that none of us totally know what is going to happen, so it takes some courage to put your thoughts out there, or even saying "I don't know," when so many other people think they do. Get to know Milly.

Lastly, Maeghan's commented a few times here (we truly hopes she continues), and it's only appropriate that we highlight her blogs. Her devotional blog is here, and there are a ton of treasures in her posts. Then, she also has her musings which are a little more lighthearted (in fact, they're not only musings but they're amusing), and since we here at The Realm love musing our own good selves (and since we certainly amuse our own good selves), we're only too happy to highlight other blogs that do some of the same stuff we do. It's almost like patting ourselves on the back, but pretending that we're doing it to someone else. What can beat that?

So all you guys and girls keep blogging. As you know, I only highlight blogs that are far superior to ours, so if you're not finding yourself in these lists, then you have some work to do. Am I joking? I just don't know. Happy blogging and happy reading.

Rich, you seriously made me blush! Thanks for your kind words and thanks for your highlights. There are several links I'd like to check - just didn't get round to checking these good blogs. Like my son keep saying and complaining: "so much to do so little time". And I need to watch "Luther" on DVD right now as I need to return it tomorrow. Sorry ... I'm beginning to ramble.
Yes, by God's grace I should be around here as long as I am able. I really enjoy all your blogs: thanks to Doug for "finding" me ;)

God bless!
Maeghan

Whoa ... took a look at codepoke's predestination post and I remember why I am still quiet there :)
Will definitely return there tho because it is a topic of interest to me. I submitted a paper on Ephesians some months back and I picked this topic - Eph 1:4-6 (though I have not gotten the results yet!)

God bless,
Maeghan

maeghan,

Thanks back to you!

Also, no need to keep quiet at codepoke's. You won't find a more courteous blog host anywhere. Doesn't matter if you agree, disagree... he's easy-going and nice. I'd say most of his commenters are, too, but then I comment there some, so I can't say that in total.

I'm wondering - what time is it where you are? How different is the time from where you are to, say, Huntsville, AL? It's afternoon here.

If you're a day ahead of us, I'd like to know what's gonna happen in the future :)

Insecurity level rising. ;-)

Glad to meet you here at the Realm, Maeghan. (Great name, btw. I love the Scots. Now don't go telling me your Irish or anything, OK?)

Eph 1:4-6 (though I have not gotten the results yet!)

Don't you hate it when they grade like they are working for free? Get on with the grading, prof! Best of luck!

Thank you for the nice words It's cool to have folks like the ones who stop by. I have learned a bunch from codepoke and some of the others. Keep posting.

Haha ... I whoa-ed because when I first visited codepoke's it was late at night and I had no more brain energy left to read and digest all the deep and profound thoughts. But at the mention of predestination, I clicked on the link in no time. Only that I again felt I needed more brain power to take it all in. But I will be there!

When I said I was quiet, I meant it in the way that I have got nothing profound to say myself :) I guess I have this tendency to want to say something of value ... not all the time though ;P

Anyway, how things are working out, I am quite amazed ... as I have already responded to Doug's comment - that I was being unnecessarily (i hope) worried about it and how and when to come out of the box, and here again I am being given the opportunity to do so. Maeghan is my pseudonym. When I first started blogging, I was not sure about it all and ended up not using my real name.

My real name is Pearlie. I did a search for a Celtic name for pearl; and there you have it: Maeghan. I have fallen in love with the name and would love it if you all continue calling me that :)

Irish? Nope, I am Chinese and you'd all definitely have a ball pronouncing my surname, which is "Ng".

I take it that AL is Alabama? we are 13 hours ahead of you and it feels great to have foreknowledge :P

Maeghan,

That is totally cool. 13 hours ahead would put you in Tiawan? I am guessing here. Man o man! This global blogging stuff really rocks!

As mentioned, in my other comment - I am in Kuala Lumpur. Some trivials: if you have watched James Bond, Tommorrow Never Dies, Michelle Yeoh is from Malaysia too; we host the Formula One in Sepang International Circuit every year since 1999; used to have the tallest building in the world, The Petronas Twin Tower until taken over now by Taipei 101 in Taiwan. Found this cool skyscraper site, check it out: http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?1241105 great graphics.

Kuala Lumpur! Yes, I followed F1 closely until this year (just no more time!), so I saw every race there. Too bad Petronas has made it as a team yet.

As for being Meaghan, as long as you're not Irish, a Scot has nothing to complain about. :-)

Glad to meet you!

Thanks! (PS: I responded to your predestination comments before reading any of this, not that it matters.)

Codepoke,
haha ... same here, I have been following F1 too but have never even seen one race this year. Yup, no time left. I was there on site back in 2000-2002: simply exhilirating.

I also had the opportunity to work with a pit crew team. Not F1 (!!) but a 12-hr Endurance Race. Though not as exciting as the actual team itself in changing tyres and fueling but great nonetheless. I was the administrative manager - getting everything that is non-technical related in place for the team and the race. Great experience.

Greek? My Greek is so so so elementary it is nothing to shout about. But useful when reading commentaries and more technical books.

I got to go to Indianapolis for one race. The one where Montoya took out Barrichello in the 3rd corner (or so.)

LOUD!

The race was loud through the earplugs. Very, very, very cool seeing those cars go from 0-180mph in nothing flat.

Tech managing for a pit crew must have had your stomach tied up in knots. You don't want ANYTHING not to be there when it's needed, because it will be NEEDED. How exciting!

OK, I guess. ;-D.

You are the 4th person to comment on my blog who's Greek kicks my butt, though. It makes me very happy to know there's one more person I can ask. :-)

Wow ... yes, definitely loud. But I just love the sound. However, I know more of what is happening when watching it at home than there just sitting in one spot. But I get to be at the corporate stands :) The weather here in KL is sweltering hot and humid!

Tell me about it! I still remember not having enough hands to get all those stuff which was needed at the last minute: especially MORE water and MORE ice for their cooler suit or something.

It makes me very happy to know there's one more person I can ask.

And when you do I will dish out my Wallace! hahaha!
